-NOTES-

-Verbs can be doubled to make new verbs, usually representing a more intense form of the original word.  For example:
Kanu - to Attack, Hit -> Kanukanu - to Kill, go to War
Kori - To Bathe, Wash -? Korikori - to Swim, Dive

--Doubled verbs are pronounced with stress on the first syllable of both parts of the word.  I.e: Kanu = [KA-nu] -> Kanukanu = [KA-nuKA-nu]
Although stress is still primarily on the first syllable of the whole word, they are both pronounced the same.

-Nouns can be *somewhat* doubled to show emphasis, as is the case with verbs.  Noun doubling does not appear as frequently as verb doubling; it is generally used to show importance or higher standing.  For example:
Metange - Man (Person) -> Metange'ange - Leader

--Doubled nouns are formed by taking the second syllable from the original word, or just repeating to first syllable if the word is monosyllabic. Stress on the doubled nouns is the same as with doubled verbs.
Marent'aa is an 'islander' language. It is based of the general concepts of the Polynesian languages, but is not supposed to be related or descended from them.
